Originally from, and now based in Newcastle in the North of England, Kate cut her teeth working in London as a womenswear designer for 15 years at a range of leading fashion brands, including COS, GAP, and most recently BARBOUR, designing for high-profile collaborations such as Erdem’s 2026 Met Gala look, Copenhagen brand GANNI, and Nordic lifestyle brand ARKET.
Kate’s designs have been seen across the world in publications such as Vogue and Harper’s Bazaar, in editorials shot by Tim Walker, and on models including Lila Moss and Amber Valletta, as well as on musicians, actresses, and well-dressed people everywhere.
Falcus & Wood was born out of a need to create new stories for fashion-conscious brides. When Kate began planning her own wedding in 2017, she encountered frustration with the traditional dresses and styles still on offer. She set out to design her own dress — one that reflected a contemporary woman whose taste and story could be expressed on her wedding day.
This became the ‘Kate’ dress.
The ‘Kate’ dress established a new approach to bridal wear and began a bigger ambition: to create exceptionally crafted gowns for brides looking to bridge the gap between bridal and fashion.
